Girl skateboards was founded in 1993 by Rick Howard, Mike Carroll, Megan Baltimore and Spike Jonze. As well as Howard and Carroll, the original team consisted of Jovontae Turner, Eric Koston, Guy Mariano, Rudy Johnson, Tim Gavin, Tony Ferguson, Sean Sheffey, and Jeron Wilson
Girl Skateboards is a brand with a heavy emphasis on style and each one of their company videos is still held up today as marking a moment of progression for skateboarding as a whole, plus having pioneering skate photographer and film-maker Spike Jonze who has been involved in the making of all of their videos to date and it is his cinematic approach that lends Girl’s video output its uniqueness.
